Gujarat: Intermediate Semester Merit-Based Progression Guidelines
As per the decision, in universities and colleges, where the practical examinations were not conducted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, students will now get 50% marks based on their internal evaluation.
While the remaining 50% marks will be offered to them based on their performance in the previous semester examination.
On the other hand, in state universities and colleges where the practical examination was successfully held, marks obtained by the students in the practical examination will be considered.
Referring to the decision, Bhupendrasinh Chudasama stated that the decision to offer merit progression was made by considering the impact of the pandemic in teaching work in various colleges, and universities in the states. He further added that since the vaccination for people in the age group of 18 to 44 is still being processed, and is not yet completed, the decision was taken in the health interest of the students.
Earlier, the state government had decided to grant mass promotion to the students of Classes 1st to 9th and to students of Class 11 due to the rise of COVID-19 cases across the country. For Class 10th and 12th students, the state government had plans to conduct examinations in May. However, Gujarat Class 10 Board Exams were cancelled in order to prevent the rise of COVID-19 cases and ensure the safety of students.
Likewise, Gujarat Class 12 Board Exams 2021 has now been postponed until further notice, and the final decision is yet to be made by the state government.
