GSHSEB 2021 Board Exam to be Conducted in May, Final Scheule to be Released Next Week; Check Important Details Here


GSHSEB 2021 Board Exams: Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) will declare class 10 and 12 Board Exams scheduled by next week. 

An official from GSHSEB stated that Gujarat Board is considering two dates i.e. May 10 and May 17 and is going to choose any one date from the two options above, and the Board will announce the Gujarat State Board Exam schedule by next week.

The statistics report that this year around 10.5 lakh candidates are likely to register for the class 10 board exams and around 5.30 lakh candidates will register for class 12 board exams, out of which, the estimated students from class 12 science stream are about 1.50 lakh.

A few weeks ago the Board had made changes in the pattern of examination and had also reduced the syllabus of examination by 30%. The exams are usually conducted in the month of March, but this year the exams are postponed owing to the circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The number of exam centres will be increased this year from 5,500 to 6,700 to maintain the norms of social distancing. This will also result in an increment in the total number of exam rooms from 60,000 to 75,000. Around 60% of the exam centres lie in the rural areas.

As per the revised exam format, the marks for class 10 and 12 students will be distributed as followed:

  • 50% of marks will be based on the OMR (Optical Mark Reader) answers.
  • 50% of marks will be given for the descriptive answers.
  • Objective questions will carry 30% marks instead of 20% (earlier).
