GIM: New Academic Year Commences with Online Classes in Full Swing; Read More

The Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has launched its academic year with online classes for its senior students.

In order to avoid further study losses, the authorities have taken this action and, from now on, GIM students are now able to attend classes digitally from their residence via online mode.

GIM 's flagship program, Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management (PGDM HCM), began in the first week of July 2020.

Course of Action for Online Classes at GIM for different programmes offered

Those pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Management-Part Time (PGDM-PT) at GIM are scheduled to attend their online classes over the weekend of the year.

The Faculty of the Goa Institute of Management has been taking online classes for the last three months.

Those who are new students at GIM in any program may use this facility from August 2020 onwards, as per the guidelines issued by the All India Technical Education Council (AICTE).

There are no online classes for students pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Big Data Analytics (PGDM BDA) because they are currently engaged in internships and their online classes are beginning in October 2020.

PGDM and PGDM-HCM students will have to complete a two-month internship, while PGDM-BDA students will have to complete a five-month internship.

Goa has developed fully-equipped studies and virtual classrooms across the campus for online GIM classes, enabling faculty members to conduct online classes and interact easily with students via Microsoft team platforms.

The faculty members are already on the faculty block of GIM Goa campus so that they can easily access virtual classrooms and studios on the basis of their convenience.

All assignment briefs and course materials are shared online with all students and faculty members.

GIM Goa Director Views on Online Education

Dr. Ajit Parulekar, Director, GIM on the online education medium adopted by the institute following the pandemic, said: "At GIM, we have always followed the adage 'Learning never stops.'

The increasing number of cases across the country has prompted us to take the decision to start classes online for the time being.

The specially-created Teaching Excellence Forum has worked with faculty members to set up virtual classrooms, evaluation processes and training sessions to help faculty members develop a new standard in management education.

We will look to resume classroom-based learning as soon as the restrictions are lifted.

COVID-19 Impact on management education community

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, every sector is affected and its services have to be moderated on a large scale.

As a result, the Goa Institute of Management (GIM) has developed a unique learning process. While the 65+ core faculty members have strong qualifications, the visiting faculty members try to apply innovative techniques and ensure that they are in line with the latest industry requirements.

GIM is packed with modern resources and learning tools that make it India's leading MBA institute.
