FYJC Admission 2020 Mumbai: First Year Junior College (FYJC) Special Round-1 cutoff list that was released on December 28 (Monday) projected high cutoffs. About 59,322 students featured in the list including seats reserved under Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category.
Candidates who were not permitted admission in previous rounds based on the general merit list, were allowed to apply through this special round. As a fact, such candidates updated previous applications and applied for preferred colleges.
Despite the fact that FYJC seats were almost filled, cutoffs remained consistently high. The FYJC Admission 2020 portal claims, about 1,48,386 seats were vacant in 844 colleges in Mumbai, before special round-1.
Earlier, Maharashtra FYJC Special Round-1 application process began on December 21, 2020. Candidates who were unable to get seats in three merit lists released earlier, applied for the special round-1 till December 22, 5:00 pm.
Among 59,322 students who applied through FYJC Special Round-1, 35,423 students were allotted seats in Commerce stream, 18,819 in Science while 4,487 in Arts and 593 for HSVC (Vocational) stream.
Students who have been assigned to Junior colleges can confirm their seats in the respective colleges from 29-31 December 2020.
Subsequently, Junior Colleges will again upload a vacancy list on January 1, 2021 once the admission through special round-1 is completed. Further, an admission schedule will be issued as per requirements.

This year, more than 72,820 students were eligible for Round-1 admissions for 304 colleges of Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. As the Supreme Court issued interim stay on exercising Maratha quota for education and jobs, the admission process suffered considerable delay. It finally resumed on November 26.
The official statement by Dattatray Jagtap, Director, Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, says, “On Monday at 5pm, junior college allotment list for special round admissions was displayed online.
Accordingly, a cut-off list for the special admission round will be displayed and SMS will be sent to students. From December 29 to 31 (6pm), students need to confirm their admission to the allotted colleges. Admission confirmation, rejection or cancellation needs to be done by the student login.
In view Covid-19 pandemic situation, junior colleges should collect their admission fee only through digital payment modes, like payment gateway, bank transfer (NEFT/RTGS/IMPS/UPI), any e-wallets approved by the government of India or Reserve Bank of India.”
