Facebook India launched its new program, called Facebook India Tech Scholars (FITS) program on Friday, June 04, 2021, to provide students with a platform for mentorship and research on technology law and policy.

Facebook India's FITS Program has been launched for students from top law schools in India. The program will be run by Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co as a knowledge partner and will offer students top education in-laws related to the technology domain. Interested candidates can apply till June 20, 2021, for the program.
Referring to the initiative, Facebook said, "The program aims to provide students from select leading law schools in the country a platform for research and mentorship on topics related to technology law and policy. The first edition of the FITS program will offer eight law students an opportunity to work on a research project with leading Indian think tanks who will also extend mentorship support to the students.”

Facebook India Tech Scholars (FITS) program is specially designed to encourage students on developing an independent voice on various topics related to future policy on law technology, and understand the evolution of technology law with ease. The program is set to commence from the academic year 2021-2022. The mentoring institutes for the program include the Centre for Internet and Society, the Observer Research Foundation, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace India, and the Software Freedom Law Center.
Facebook India Tech Scholars Program 2021: Scope
The first edition will offer 8 law students an opportunity to work on research projects with a leading body of experts from India, that will extend mentorship support to them. The opportunity is open to 4th and 5th year students from National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, the WB National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, the National Law University, Delhi, and the National Law University, Jodhpur.
The program will begin in Summer 2021 for fourth, and fifth-year law students of National Law School of India University, Bengaluru, the WB National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, the National Law University, Delhi, and the National Law University, Jodhpur.
