Previously, a few states had requested for the admission deadline to be extended in order for better preparation. This led to AICTE deciding in favor of the extension. In many states, the CET for admission to Engineering programs had been delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Following this, the states pleaded the council for an extension of admission dates of UG, PG, UG Lateral, Diploma and Diploma Lateral courses. The council had agreed to extend the admission deadline for those states.
The official notification states “last date for admission to Engineering Courses is extended upto 31st December, 2020 in only those cases where counselling and admission had not started due to delayed CET of the state or where counselling has yet ot been over with a rise that classes were not started for more than 15 days to take care or the academic requirements of the students to avoid an academic loss”.
