Education Minister Recommends Setting up Task Force for NEP Implementation, Check Details Here


Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ suggested setting up a task force for regulating the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) between school education departments and higher education. 

The Minister recommended that a review committee and an implementation committee headed by Secretary, Higher Education should be established to ensure the speedy practice of NEP.

Meanwhile, over 181 tasks have been identified for implementation in higher education and a dashboard for evaluating the progress of these tasks of NEP with clear timelines and targets may be formed. 

During the meeting, Pokhriyal also highlighted the importance of transferring the focus from package culture to patent culture. He informed that a monthly and weekly calendar should be prepared for successful implementation of the tasks so that every stakeholder is aware of its implementation.

Further, the National Research Foundation (NRF) and the National Education Technology Forum (NETF) are important for the success of NEP policy so they should be put into effect in the year 2021-2022. 

He also called upon the stakeholders to secure coordination between the implementation of NEP and the existing policies of the government. He also focused on creating linkages between the industry and academia for improved results.

About NEP

The new NEP was sanctioned in July 2020 with an aim of universalization of education from pre-school to higher education. The NEP would ensure a student to learn one or more specialized areas of interest with a deep level of understanding along with enhancing character, scientific temper, creativity, innovation, social work, and 21st-century capabilities across various fields including arts, science, commerce, and social science.
