National Education Policy 2020: Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education has recently launched a booklet on one-year achievements of National Education Policy released in 2020 through online mode.
As per the booklet released, the Department of School Education and Literacy has achieved 62 major milestones in one year; 2020-2022 from various state education sectors. The accomplishments have been made in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020.
The launch program to commemorate the one-year achievements of the National Education Policy (NEP) was attended by the Department and Heads of Autonomous Institutions and senior officers from the School Education Department from all states and UTs.

In addition to the release of the NEP booklet, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has released various initiatives in the education policy. The initiatives introduced to commemorate one year achievements of policy are as follows:
- NIPUN Bharat FLN Tools and Resources have been launched on the DIKSHA portal which will now assist and mentor states/UTs and teachers in implementing NIPUN Bharat.
- ‘Virtual School of NIOS for Classes 9-12 students’ is released in order to offer an education platform for students for advanced digital learning. Students will not be able to attend virtual classes and labs through this initiative.
- Alternate Academic Calendar 2021-22 of NCERT has been released during the launch session. The calendar includes a week-wise plan of activities that is to be conducted throughout the academic year.
- ‘Priya’- Accessibility Booklet developed by NCERT has been released by the Education Minister and Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment in collaboration with the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disability.
Talking about the ‘Priya’- Accessibility booklet Anita Karwal, Secretary School Education and Literacy Department said “QR codes will be available on every page”. The booklet has been launched to offer significance of accessibility in children.
Under the 62 milestones, accomplishments such as NIPUN Bharat Mission on Foundational Literacy and Numeracy, Vidya Pravesh, Blueprint of National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR), the building of Secondary teachers under NISHTHA, Assessment reforms, Digital content on DIKSHA, and others included.
In one year after the release of NEP 2020, the scheme has been aligned with the Samagra Shiksha scheme and has now progressed in various institutes and colleges in India. Under this scheme, students will be offered with an exit option.
NEP 2020 exit option will offer students an opportunity to leave their program in between and receive the certificates for the same on the basis of their academic scores.
Referring to the initiatives, the Education Minister said, "NEP is a philosophical document, not about data or numbers. Education is not about collecting degrees but building character and nation through building knowledge. That is our understanding of the Indian knowledge system".
He further added, "Several good policies over the past 75 years are hidden in the files without being implemented. But we are presenting a sort of report card for NEP -- what we have done over the past one year”.
