IIT Bombay MBA Admission through CAT 2022: Eligibility Criteria

Aspiring candidates willing to pursue MBA from IIT Bombay must carefully follow the eligibility criteria for admission.

• Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (55 percent if the candidates belong to the SC/ST/PWD category) or at least 6.5 CPI (6 for SC/ST/PWD category candidates) from an university recognized by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
• Candidates must have obtained graduation or equivalent of minimum 4 years duration after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent
• Candidates who are in their final year of graduation or are awaiting results are also eligible to apply. Such candidates must have scored a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (55 percent if the candidates belong to SC/ST/PWD category) or equivalent till the latest exam.
• CA, CS, CFA, ICWA or FRM candidates, with a first-class bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks (55 percent if the candidates belong to the SC/ST/PWD category) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 if the candidates belong to SC/ST/PWD category) out of 10 are also eligible to apply.

IIT Bombay MBA Admission through CAT 2022: Application Process

Like previous years, the application process for MBA 2023-25 admission into IIT Bombay will be online and the same has been illustrated below:

• Visit the official website of IIT Bombay (https://www.som.iitb.ac.in/)
• Hover over the ‘MBA Admissions’ tab.
• Click the ‘Online Application’ link on the MBA online application homepage.
• Register as a ‘New User’
• Enter your email id for registration and press the ‘Register’ button.
• Fill the application form with the following details:
• Full Name, Email id, Date of Birth, Gender, Contact No, Nationality, Category, Disability Status, Address of Correspondence, Educational Qualification, Work Experience, Extracurricular activities.
• On completion of registration, login into your profile using registered email id.
• Upload necessary documents like photograph, signature, degree certificate, caste certificate, CAT Score Card, EWS certificate, Physical Disability certificate.
• Proceed to pay the application fee via debit card, credit card or netbanking for final submission of application.
• On completion of the application, take a printout of the application for future reference.

IIT Bombay MBA Admission through CAT 2022: Selection Process

The selection process for MBA admission at IIT Bombay will be conducted through two phases:

Phase I: Shortlisting for PI based on CAT 2022.

Minimum percentile cut off score for MBA

Composite score to be used for Shortlisting for PI (Personal Interview)

In this phase candidates with a minimum total percentile score and a minimum sectional percentile score in CAT 2022 are considered for personal interview (PI). Various criteria with their weightage are tabulated below for selection of candidates:

*10% weightage will be given to female candidates

**3% weightage will be awarded to postgraduates and 5% weightage will be awarded to the professionals

Performance in CAT 2022 (70%)

70% weightage will be given to a candidate’s CAT 2022 score. The same is shown below:

Academic Profile (10%)

Weightage for academic profile is calculated as below:

Class XII or Equivalent (5%)

Weightage for Class XII score would be based on the streams (Science, Commerce, Arts, and Humanities) of the candidate and the same is calculated based on the following formula:

Graduation degree (5%)

Weightage for graduation would be based on the marks scored and discipline of the course.

Gender Diversity

10% weightage is given to female candidates.

Post Graduate Qualification/Professionals

3% weightage will be given to postgraduates candidates (M.Tech/ ME, MD, MS, MA, M.SC, MCA, M.Pharma, M.Plan., M.Arch.,M.Des., M.STAT., M.Com. and Other Commerce/Economics Postgraduate courses) and 5% to Professionals (CA, CS, CFA, ICWA & FRM).

Work Experience

Upto 5% weightage is given to candidates depending upon the duration of relevant work experience.

Phase II: Final Merit List preparation

The final merit list is prepared based on the composite score of the candidates. The weightage is given below:

CAT 2022 Overall scaled Score (40%)

42.5% will be given to the overall score of a candidate in CAT 2022 and the same is calculated as below:

CAT score = (Candidate’s CAT scaled score/228) *40

Personal Interaction (42.5%)

42.5% weightage is given to personal interview and the same should be accompanied by originals and copies of certificates.

Profile (15%):

Profile is based on the following weightages:

Graduation: 6%

Work experience: 6%
