DU to Resume Offline Mode of Teaching Soon for Final Year Students; Check Full Details Here

Delhi University (DU) has announced its plan to resume offline mode of teaching in various DU affiliated colleges. DU officials notified that the varsity is preparing for the reopening of colleges for final year students in a slow and organized manner.

The decision came to light on January 6 after the conduct of two meetings with officials of Delhi University. The meeting witnessed various parties including principals and heads of departments of different colleges.

The university is gearing to reopen colleges firstly for final year students and slowly proceeding to first year and second year. The DU meeting came to a point that the reopening will be in compliance with the rules & regulations of UGC.

Delhi University is working on standard operating procedures (SOPs) which are expected to be issued in a couple of weeks. The major challenge for DU colleges is maintaining social distancing amid the pandemic. Due to which only fewer students will be allowed at a time to perform lab work, which may create a learning divide among students unable to visit campuses.

As per reports, the next semester at Delhi University colleges may be taught offline. The final year students will be returning to the campus for lab work or practical classes. However, only a small group of students will be allowed at a time.

DU has announced the phased return of final year students for practical classes which also includes Commerce and Humanities students as both the courses also require certain lab work. DU dean of students, Rajeev Gupta said that the phased entry will be initiated from February 2021.

Earlier UGC gave a green signal to resuming offline classroom activities from November 5, 2020. If the colleges will be reopened, the students’ entry will be on a voluntary basis. There will be a graded entry. Students will be allowed to attend practicals classes and labs. Though, theory classes will continue in offline mode.
