DU Faculty Urges VC to Implement Senior Professorship without ‘Discrimination’; Read Full Report Here


Delhi University Academic Council, Executive Council, Finance Committee members have sent a letter to the Acting V-C, Prof PC Joshi requesting a fair implementation of the senior professorship in the various departments of DU without any discrimination. 

In the letter to Acting VC, Delhi University's academic council and executive council members requested the authority not to be selective during the implementation of the senior professorship in various DU departments. 

The letter states: “In continuation with our earlier emails dated 27/12/2021, 07/01/2021, and 06/03/2021 and 27/03/2021 in this regard, we are pained and anguished to learn that you are selective in the implementation of senior Professorship in the Departments of DU.”

The letter further stated that the Delhi University authority has applied for senior professorship eligibility on the verge of retirement. A similar letter has also been sent to the authority last year in regards to the fair implementation of roles. 

The letter further alleges that Delhi University authority actions are not justified in accordance with the guidelines and regulations released by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the /Ministry of Education.

As a result, the authority has been requested to evaluate and ensure the qualification and eligibility of the Professors for their promotion. They are further asked to consider the ongoing procedures of Promotion in various Delhi University Departments

The official letter reads, “In the light of the aforesaid, you are requested to ensure that all the qualified and eligible Professors for their promotion are considered together and not even one be disregarded in the ongoing procedures of Promotion”.

Earlier, Delhi University has started the commencement of the admission process for its various undergraduate courses from October 2021. The DU first cut-off list was released on October 01, 2021, and the admission process for the same began from October 04, 2021. 

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria were requested to submit their applications for the same on or before October 06, 2021. Those who did not meet the cut-off criteria are waiting for the second cut-off list release. The second cut-off list is expected to be released on October 07, or October 08, 2021, for all registered candidates to check on DU’s website.
