Kumar Ashutosh of College of Vocational Studies stated that many eligible candidates were not able to submit the family income certificate on time while leading to the huge number of vacant seats.

He stated, “DU has a rule that the certificate has to relate to the period after March 31. Because of the lockdown, many couldn’t get this certificate.” Kumar also informed that when compared to the vacant seats of the previous year, the vacant seat remained high this year.

RK Dwivedi, the admission convenor at Aryabhatta College stated that most of the candidates were not acknowledged that they can apply under the EWS category. Many eligible candidates did not select the option of EWS in the admission form and hence they were not provided admission under that category.

Rama Sharma, the principal of Hansraj college stated that the cut off was initially high for the EWS category which differs with the general category cutoff by only 0.25-1%. She also stated that the college has reduced the cut off later which helps them to fill some seats after that.

Hansraj College has lowered their cut off marks. The first cut off marks announced for History was 97% and when the seventh list was published, the cut off was dropped to 92%. And in the third special cutoff drive, it was further dropped to 85%.

Many colleges have even lowered the cutoff marks to 70-80% so that they could fill the seats that have been reserved for candidates belonging to EWS category.
