Delhi Government has decided to reopen schools for Classes 10th and 12th students from January 18,2021. The Directorate of Education, Delhi Government has announced that schools in the national capital would reopen from next Monday.
The decision has received different reactions from both parents and students. Most of the parents have welcomed the decision of reopening schools because of the approaching board exams while some others have demanded more time until vaccination is received.
Some parents expressed their fear to send their children to schools and resume classroom based learning before a vaccine against COVID-19 is available.
Delhi School Reopening: School Attendance Optional
Delhi Government has issued an SOP mentioning the necessary set of guidelines to ensure safety and health of the students as schools will be reopening after a gap of around 9-months.
Additionally,Delhi Government has not made attendance mandatory for students after reopening of schools.From Monday, students who are voluntarily willing to attend classes, will be allowed to visit schools.
Also,parents’ consent has been made mandatory for students who want to visit schools and attend regular classes. This gives more control to parents to ensure safety of their children in such uncertain times.
Delhi School Reopening:Board Exams in May
Delhi Government has taken the decision to reopen schools in the national capital, has been taken by the state government keeping in mind the fast approaching board exams.
Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE is all set to hold the Class 10 and Class 12 board Exams in the month of May. The exams are scheduled to be held between May 4 and June 10, 2021.
Henceforth,the reopening of schools will allow students to clarify their doubts and get into the exam mode before board exams begin. In line with this, the state government has also asked schools to hold pre-board exams for class 12 from March 20 to April 15 and Class 10 pre-board exams from April 1 to April 15.
