The Delhi Government has announced that it will set up a Tamil Academy to promote Tamil language and culture in the state on January 3, 2021. The Academy will be supervised by Delhi Tamil Sangam with former municipal councillor N Raja as the vice-chairman.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia informed that Tamil Academy will be established under the Department of Art, Culture and Language of the city government to promote and reward the good works of people in Tamil language and culture.
He added that it is diversity that forms Delhi’s vibrant and cosmopolitan culture as people from all various parts of the country come to settle Delhi for work as well as Education.
N . Raja a former municipal councillor and member of the Delhi Tamil Sangam is appointed as vice-chairman of Tamil Academy.The academy will be structured with the taste of the south Indian Art and culture and celebrate and organise cultural festivals for the people of Tamil Nadu,
Sisodia said an office space will be allocated soon in Delhi as a large population from Tamil Nadu resides in Delhi for their living. Delhi is a culturally rich city where people from all parts of the country live and work.
The Department of Art, Culture and Language of the Delhi government has agreed that Tamil Academy will introduce several awards to promote and reward the good works of people in Tamil language art and culture. The academy promotes local languages of Tamil Nadu.
