The document submission deadline for government post-matric scholarship for SC and OBC category students has been extended by the Education Department of Delhi. Students are to submit the income certificate for applying to the scholarship scheme by the end of January 2021.
Delhi Government offers post-matric scholarship to SC and OBC students of class 10 and 12, where they receive a certain amount for 10 months. The scholarship is applicable to those students whose annual family income is less than Rs. 2.5 lakh.
Earlier, the education department has notified all the government-run schools and government-aided schools to complete entry in the online portal and submit the required documents by January 10, 2021. But it was impossible for students to produce an income certificate from the SDM office showing that the student’s annual family income is less than Rs. 2.5 lakh.
Many teachers explained that submitting the income certificate in such a short time is inevitable and children may miss their chance to avail scholarships. Following this, schools have appealed to the education department to extend the deadline for post-matric scholarships.
After several requests, the deadline has been delayed to the end of January and all the schools have been notified by the planning branch of the education department. The SC candidates for this scholarship will receive Rs 230 per month for 10 months, while beneficiaries of the OBC scholarship receive Rs 160 per month for 10 months.
