Delhi’s Directorate of Education (DoE) has requested the Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE to waive off the examination fee for both class 10th and class 12th government students in view of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
In DoE's letter to CBSE, the directorate wrote to Udit Prakash Rai that a number of parents of government school students have expressed their concerns regarding the board fee due to the covid-19 pandemic.
As a result, Central Board of Secondary Education affiliated government school students have been facing financial issues in submitting the CBSE Class 10th and 12th board exam fee.
In the letter to CBSE, the DoE wrote, “The pandemic has created an economic crisis, shuttering businesses and cutting jobs around the world. The pandemic has badly affected all aspects of life. On one hand, many families have lost their close ones and on the other, many of them have become unemployed due to the ongoing Covid pandemic”.
“After a long time, formal education has started once again in schools. Now, the problems regarding paying the Central Board of Secondary Education examination fee have emerged before the parents,” the letter further reads.
DoE Director Udit Prakash Rai further requested the board to waive the examination fee for both class 10th and class 12th students who are now pursuing their education from CBSE affiliated government schools in the view of ongoing covid-19 pandemic and its economic impact.
The request to waive the board examination fee has been submitted in regards to students studying in government, government-aided, Patrachar Vidyalaya, New Delhi Municipal Council, Delhi Cantonment Board, and Department of Social Welfare schools for the academic session 2021-2022.
Delhi’s Directorate of Education (DoE) submitted the request letter to CBSE on September 23, 2021. The DoE is now waiting for a response, however, no further response has been submitted by the examination board yet.
