CUCET 2021 Common E-Counselling Portal to be Developed By NTA, NIC; Exam Likely to be Held Twice a Year


Central Universities Common Entrance Test, CUCET 2021 common e-counselling portal will be jointly developed by NTA and NIC to admit qualifying students to the central universities. NTA has also suggested conducting the exam twice a year, read details below.

A seven-member committee led by Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Punjab has submitted a report that directs, students who qualify CUCET 2021 will be admitted to 41 participating central universities through its common e-counselling portal. 

The common e-counseling portal will be developed with the help of the National Testing Agency (NTA), and NIC after discussions with CUCET 2021 participating universities. However, participating universities will be permitted to continue with their respected counselling processes in case of an admission time crunch for this academic session. 

In such cases, “The admission criteria will take into account the local issues of the university including reservation or quota at [a] particular university,” reads the report.

The committee further recommended that since several state board examinations are now scheduled to conduct at different times in the country due to COVID-19, flexibility for the same should also be included in the e-counselling platforms.

CUCET 2021 is expected to be held in the month of June, and the result for the same will also be made available for students in July. CUCET Result 2021 will be prepared based on percentile rank, and percentile score and the same will be released in the form of the All India merit list. 

The report further reads, “The seat allocation is to be displayed to all candidates till such time the payment for securing admission has been made and admission granted to that candidate or until all seats for any particular subject at any particular university are filled”. 

NTA Likely to Conduct CUCET Twice a Year from 2021

As per latest updates, National Test Agency (NTA) is expected to conduct the CUCET examination twice a year from the year 2021 online mode. The suggestion has been made by the 7-member committee headed by RR Tiwari, VC of the Central University of Punjab in their report. 

As per the committee's suggestion, NTA will conduct a high-quality aptitude test along with a specialized common subject exam for subjects like sciences, humanities, languages, arts, and vocational, which will be conducted twice a year. 

The report further reads, "Students will be able to choose the subjects for taking the test, and each university will be able to see each student’s individual subject portfolio and admit students into their programs based on individual interests and talents".

Additionally, the committee has also proposed to introduce a single platform where students will be able to submit their applications for admission to 41 central universities. 

As per the accommodation, many central universities like Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Allahabad University, and Delhi University will offer admission to UG, and the PG program through the CUCET score.
