Centre Plans to Tie Up with IIT Bombay to Offer Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics Courses


December 16, 2020: Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javedkar has declared in a virtual summit that a ‘Centre of Excellence’ will be set up by the government in cooperation with IIT Bombay for offering courses in Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics.

The CII Big Picture Summit was held virtually on December 16. On this occasion the minister addressed the initiatives to be taken by the government for the promotion of the sunrise sector. He explained that India’s growth of communication technology is exceptional and there is a chance for massive scope in the media and entertainment industry.

The courses offered in cooperation with IIT Bombay will provide a back end support to the indian Film-makers and it can use animations and graphics in many ways. Most of the experts from India work for the abroad clients in film-making, while the introduction of courses will encourage the youth to participate in Indian Film-making process, said Javedkar.

On the occasion of 51st International Film Festival of India in January 2021,Prakash Javedkar announced that India will be setting a dedicated pavilion at Cannes 2022 as the celebration of 75th Cannes Film Festival and will also be conducting a Global Media and Film Summit in 2021.

CEO of Prasar Bharti, Shashi Shekhar Vempati also joined in the speech and added various channels have also taken the initiative to generate content for mass awareness during the pandemic situation and the efforts resulted in Doordarshan’s forthcoming performances.

The historical shows like ‘Ramayan’ and ‘Mahabharat’ were loved and cherished by the audience for a wholesome family content. With that it set a trend for the whole world to emerge with 5G technologies and encourage the start up for broadcasting to smartphones
