CBSE Practical Exam 2021 Can Be Shelved Until Std XII Marking Scheme is Released, Says Board

Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has offered its affiliated schools the choice of putting CBSE Practical Exam 2021 on hold until the result evaluation policy is finalized, and released.

Earlier, the board released a notice regarding CBSE Class 12th Board Exam 2021 cancellation for all schools, however, no decision has been taken in regards to practical examination.

Parents whose wards study in CBSE affiliated schools have expressed their concerns over the conduction of the CBSE Practical Exam 2021 for Class 12th in the current pandemic situation.

Referring to the examination, CBSE Controller of Exam, Sanyam Bhardwaj said, “Our policy on assessment of Std XII will be ready soon. In that, we shall also address the issue of practical exams. Till this comes, schools can definitely put their exams on hold. The choice is theirs".

He further added that the practical examination can not be held as of now since the state, and district authorities have not given permission for the same yet. If permission for conducting class 12th practical exam is granted by the authorities, then the exam will be held under strict covid-19 protocols, and safety measures, he added.

The board may offer alternatives to conducting CBSE Practical Exam 2021 for class 12th students in view of the coronavirus pandemic, however, no official statement for the same has been made.

Referring to the examination, a principal of CBSE-affiliated school said, “The reason we are pushing for practical exams is that June 11 is the deadline for uploading of marks. So, obviously everything has to be finished by then".

The principal further added that conducting practical examinations includes coordination with externals, as they have to travel from one school to another. If the exams are cancelled, or shelved by CBSE, then the conducting exam becomes a hectic task for the faculty.

Referring to the awry of exam schedules, he further added that due to the lack of communication from the CBSE, schools now have to face parents’ complaints. It would be a lot easier if the final decision on the Class 12th Practical Exam 2021 will be released.
