Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to change the existing pattern of class 12th Board Exams 2021 and make it more application-based. A significant amount of questions for class 12th will be based on case-study.
In adherence to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 new guidelines, CBSE took the decision to design the question paper for Class 12th Board 2021 exams more competency-based.
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has encouraged various ways for admissions to colleges. Consecutively, NEP 2020 new regulations have affected the Class 12th Board Exams.
CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2021: Changes Introduced
With the introduction of new changes, the previous board exam question pattern of CBSE Class 12th will be affected.

The one mark questions in the existing exam pattern can now change to short or long questions.
Joseph Emmanuel, Director, Academics at CBSE stated class 12th Board 2021 exam will be based on case-study paragraph type questions wherein students are required to read the case study first and answer the questions accordingly.
He further added that case study based questions will evaluate student’s reading, interpretation, understanding, and writing abilities. The change from the existing rote learning technique will help prepare students for various entrance tests in their near future.

Additionally, CBSE Board has released Class 12th Board exams sample papers based on the new format.
Joseph Emmanuel added CBSE’s aim to make Board exams competency-based will also help class 12th Board students to understand and apply real-life concepts. Also, CBSE shifted from rote learning to learning for life keeping students’ interests in consideration.
Director Emmanuel further quoted stating that this initiative by CBSE is a small step towards the vision of the New Education Policy.
He also added when teachers will start to teach based on skill-oriented education besides marks or exam oriented studies, only then the real change in the education system can be observed.
