CBSE Board Exam 2021 will be held offline in respective exam centres, clarifies Central Board of Secondary Education, even after students submitted an online petition seeking cancellation of exams.
As an impact of the second wave of COVID-19 in India, over 1 Lakh CBSE students have signed the online petition to seek cancellation of the CBSE Board Exam 2021. As per the petition, students requested to either cancel CBSE Board Exam 2021 for class 10th, and 12th students, or conduct the exams through online means.
Referring to the request made by students, the board has made an announcement on Thursday, April 08, 2021, to assure students of the safety measures taken for Class 10th, and 12th CBSE Board Exam 2021.
CBSE students from around the country have recently been tweeting with the hashtag "cancelboardexams2021" to show their concerns regarding the upcoming board examination.
"The students have already faced a lot of problems till now in this pandemic. Classes were held online so the exams should also be held online or students should be promoted via internal assessment marks” a CBSE student tweeted.
While another student of CBSE class 10th, Divya Garg added in her tweet that the board should postpone the examination for at least a month, and reschedule it after reviewing the situation.
Measures Adopted for CBSE Board Exam 2021 Amid COVID Spike
Keeping in mind the second wave of COVID-19, and the fact that 1 lakh CBSE students have submitted a petition to request cancellation of CBSE Board Exam 2021, the board has updated its guidelines and adopted necessary precautions to ensure safety of students.
For CBSE Board Exam 2021, the board has increased the number of exam centres to more than 2,500, ensuring social distancing can be followed throughout the exam season. As per the record, a total of 3.4 lakh students are expected to appear for CBSE Class 10th, and 12th Examination 2021.
A CBSE official said, “Adequate arrangements are being made to ensure the students are safe and all COVID protocols are followed. The number of exam centres has been increased by 40-50 per cent to ensure social distancing. The staff at exam centres is being sensitized to ensure all guidelines are followed”, a senior CBSE official added.
Earlier on April 1, 2021, CBSE made an announcement for reconducting practical exams. In accordance with the notice issued, CBSE Practical Exam 2021 will be reconducted for those students who are being tested positive for COVID-19. So students who are unable to take practical exams will get a chance to attend the re-conducted examinations before June 11, 2021.
