What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Providing a salubrious learning environment for our students”

A balanced environment of assisted learning, academic challenges and a comfortable learning atmosphere are a must for students to develop to their fullest potential. We try to achieve that by maintaining a balance between extracurricular activities and academic hours. It is also my obligation as a principal to maintain an atmosphere of inclusiveness, where student’s participation is encouraged, and opinions are valued.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Delegating authority to the students with a sense of responsibility”

At JSHM, we make teaching and learning a memorable experience for both the faculty and the students. For the benefit of the students, class hours are made interactive and exciting through various class activities, practical sessions and workshops. We do realize that adult learners typically prefer a sense of control. Our course leaders trust students with important decisions related to events and class projects. Sharing responsibilities for these class projects certainly helps in building mutual respect between students and faculty.

How do you try to bring in practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

“Introducing courses that comply with the industry needs”

Jindal School of Hotel Management has the advantage of being associated with our parent Company “Jindal Hotels Limited”. This industry connect helps us understand the requirements of a new-age hospitality graduate. Our curriculum is continually updated to be globally relevant and to give a cutting-edge advantage to our students. JSHM has introduced many new courses to prepare our students for modern-day challenges. Courses like PR and E-Marketing for Hospitality and Events, Hotel Sustainable Development and Contemporary Trends are a few of the subject unique to JSHM.

What are the best practices offered at JSHM to the students which help them gain the necessary skills?

“Making the students acquire the most sought after traits by the employer”

At JSHM, we offer our students many opportunities to develop their skills and work alongside our industry partners. Students benefit from being a part of this consultancy process. As a part of their curriculum, a student at JSHM needs to offer viable solutions to specific business challenges. Students are presented with opportunities that will hone their skills. They get to work part-time and experience the industrial world. Our students acquire the ability to think on their feet and work under pressure.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges?

“Making them realise the importance of contributing to the society on a global scale”

At Jindal School of Hotel Management we have always encouraged our students to go beyond the classroom sessions. Our student bodies are active in social work and skill-clubs. The Green Team of JSHM works tirelessly to keep our campus eco-friendly. Our students are socially aware and contribute to the same.

What do you see as JSHM’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

“Our partners and alumni have helped maintained us the excellence we are known for”

Our partnerships are our biggest strengths. We work in close collaboration with our global partners to offer the best international curriculum to our students. Our international accreditation is an assurance to students and parents that we will provide professional teaching, valuable qualifications and a holistic learning experience. JSHM has maintained a high placement record since its inception in 2005. Many of JSHM’s alumni are decision-makers for recruitment in their organizations.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

“Leave your footprints wherever you go”

Follow your passion instead of chasing money. Be an intrapreneur and work as if you are working for your own company. Do not be afraid to do things differently and stand out from the crowd.
