The course has helped me to gain a better understanding of me as a woman. It helped me become an independent learner, develop my understanding of gender issues, and think critically about the world around me.
Liberal Art Course at VIT-AP School of Business
Being a Women and Gender Studies student, taught me to value the opinions of others and understand that everyone’s story is unique and individualized to them. It has also taught me to be very open in my opinions and to learn to disagree with inequalities that occur.
I am a student at BBA at VIT-AP School of Business (VSB), which provides many liberal arts foundation courses. I can relate the courses to my day-to-day experience, and that's what I love the most about them. The courses include experiential teaching, which allows an in-depth class discussion, leading to a greater understanding of the topic. It helps me to have a different perspective on life, and not only I grow as a student but a better human being too. I did another project on Gender inequality in HIV, through which I learned how HIV infected people are discriminated based on their gender. The interviews I had with them gave me a clear and broader understanding of Gender Dynamics in our society.
A business student should be able to work with the people around them. To do that, they need to know the functionality and how our society is structured. The gender studies program at VSB, VIT AP, is inclusive, covering how patriarchy dominates the society, feminism, gender equity, feminist movements, the three waves, masculine, feminine, and many more.
The course has helped me to gain a better understanding of me as a woman. It helped me become an independent learner, develop my understanding of gender issues, and think critically about the world around me. Whatever I was learning in the classes, I was able to apply it in real life. Most importantly, I believe I am equipping myself to be a world-class management professional with an advantage over others to face the harsh realities of the business world.
