Telangana, June 20, 2019: School of Technology of GITAM organized Orientation Program at the commencement of the new batch of B.Tech. for the academic year 2019-20. The event aimed to familiarize the students with curricular and co-curricular activities, facilities, rules and regulations of the Institution. Students from all over the country enthusiastically attended the Program.

The program commenced with a formal address by Prof. A.Sreeram, Director, Students Affairs. He extended a warm welcome to the gathering and highlighted the importance of taking part in extra and co-curricular activities. Prof. Ch.Sanjay, Principal, SoT enlightened the audience about the history of GITAM and emphasized on the importance of curriculum as a tool for gathering knowledge. He also stressed upon four points i.e attendance, self-study, zero-defect culture and optimum usage of mobiles.

DVVSR Varma, Resident Director advised the budding engineers to make themselves ready to face the challenges ahead and take the support/guidance of the alumni whenever required. He also encouraged the students for combined study and newspaper reading habit every day to improve general knowledge.

Prof. M.Akkalakshmi, Vice-Principal, SoT emphasized the discipline at on campus, regularity to the classes and the availability of online courses. Prof. G.A.Rama Rao, Principal, School of Science advised the fresher’s to cultivate good habits from the first day of their course and particularly improving the writing abilities.

Dr. Nathi Venukumar, Director, Training and Placements focused on the talents and skills required by students in order to bridge the skill gaps needed in industries. He also explained the structure and functions of TnP Department.

Prof. Sunil Kumar, Director, School of Architecture, Prof. G.S.Kumar, Principal, School of Pharmacy also participated in the orientation program.
