What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Fulfill the vision of quality education and building a positive habitat”

It is my prime duty to lead and to manage the department in such a way that there should be harmony between staff and students.

  • Development of a new curriculum.
  • Conducting the school's extracurricular activities and curricular activities.
  • To oversee the day-to-day activities of teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • Solving the personal problems of students.
  • We want to provide students with an interactive platform for interacting with teachers.
  • The organization of Guest Lectures, Seminars, Workshops, Conferences, etc.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“Constant interactions and making an effort to understand grievances”

In today’s scenario, teachers not only complete their duty of transferring knowledge but also act as a mentor and second parent. Therefore, there should be healthy and friendly relationships between teachers and their students.

For this, the Department conducts regular Mentor-Mentee classes every Saturday to solve the student’s problems related to their subjects. We conduct social activities like the Outreach programme for the upliftment of their personal development and civic responsibilities. Additionally, we also have remedial classes for weak students and educational trips for all.

What are the best practices offered to the students?

“Remedial classes, completion of syllabus on time and blended learning”

The best practices by Physics Department are-

  • Blended mode teaching
  • 100% completion of syllabus, hence no need for extra coaching.
  • Several activities are conducted under the ‘Kalam Forum’.
  • Extra classes for weak students or for those having any doubt.

How does your department prepare students for higher education?

“Education in core subjects help students crack higher education entrance examinations easily”

Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Computer Science are the core subjects for basic science which provide multidirectional opportunities for the Physics-Maths students. Because of these basic subjects BSc. students can fight all the competitions like SSC, Bank PO, RAS, IAS, NET, MBA, MCA, and also do Post Graduation in another particular subject.

How do you help your student to cope up with the extremely competitive world?

“Helping students become morally and mentally strong is essential”

Nowadays, students just get degrees and qualifications but lack values that are moral and social. Therefore it is our duty as their Mentor to impart moral values and social responsibilities. Also, students nowadays are just running the race to score good marks and for the ranks but they are mentally weak from the inside. Hence as their mentors, it is our duty to make them mentally strong. This allows them to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world.

  • We are conducting many extracurricular activities within ‘Kalam - the science forum’.
  • Activities that are conducted within Kalam Forum are based on different motives.
  • Academic - Exhibition, Educational tour, Quiz Competition, Chart competition.
  • Social - Outreach programme
  • Environmental - Biodegradable bags distribution, Plantation Drive
  • Motivational - International Webinars and Seminars, a Students exchange program.

What are the challenges you are facing academically nowadays?

“Students migration towards bigger cities for education is a prevalent issue”

One of the challenges we are facing in our efforts to improve the quality of education is the location of the college. Most students in Ajmer migrate outside of the city to Jaipur, Delhi and other places. By God's Grace, however, many students are taking admission in Sophia College from outside the Ajmer region, as they know the qualities and values of this College.
