R.K. DELWIN JIJO has been working as the Physical Director of Mohamed Sathak College of Arts and Science, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He has done M.Phil from SRM University, M. P. Ed. and B.P.Ed from YMCA College of Physical Education, Chennai as part of his academics. Along with this, he has done Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga from Tamil Nadu Sports and Physical Education University, Diploma in Hardware and Software Networking MTL Computers Education, Diploma In Personal Trainer and Nutrition and Weight Management followed by Certifications in the discipline of Event Management, Basics of Counseling, Soft Skills and Special Olympics. He is also proficient in Athletics, Archery, Table Tennis, Fitness Training, Yoga, Tennis, Darts and Throw Ball. He started his career as a Personal Trainer and later on worked as a Archery Coach at YMCA Archery Academy Nandanam, Table Tennis Coach In (SOS), Fitness Coach for Lite weight Fitness and Incorporate Fitness) and as a Archery Coach for CSA Academy.
What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
"My passion of spreading awareness among students about physical education importance has kept me associated"
As we all know that physical inactivity leads to lots of health issues and diseases. Hence to keep our young generation and students mentally and physically fit and strong, I have been associated with the education sector. Also my passion for educating students about benefits of healthy lifestyle and sports mainly has helped me to be associated here for a long time.
Being the Director of Mohamed Sathak College, what is your philosophy of leadership?
"Leadership is all about empowering others and working with them as a team"
I believe in an inclusive and collaborative way of working so that we all together can offer the best to our young generation. I also believe in directing students on the right path so that they don't get distracted from their goals and I ensure participation of everyone, be it faculty members, students or management people, whenever I take any important decision for college.

Being the Physical Director, my prime responsibility is to work for the development of students' sports careers, maintain discipline among students, ensure students fitness and regularly communicate with the University people. In addition to this, sending students for external events and connecting with people to organize Intramural annual sports meets also comes under the scope of my responsibilities.
What do you think should be the college’s top priority over the next 10 years?

In my opinion, our priority for the next few years should be on providing the best physical education and sports facilities to our students.

When I joined this amazing college, my vision was to work for the betterment of our students and institute itself by utilizing all my past experiences and knowledge. And I am working with 100% attention to achieve this goal as I want to see our institute at the top.

Our college is committed to work for every section of society and everyone works as a team here. What are the biggest challenges you see for higher education in general?
"Generation gap is a real challenge in today's time"
I firmly believe that the generation gap between students and teachers along with students and teachers puts a lot of pressure as what may seem right for one person may be useless for other be it belief or the way of delivering knowledge.
Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?
"Be disciplined and stay focused towards your goals"
I would advise my dear students to maintain proper discipline and hygienic environment in college premises. Also strictly follow the dress code defined by the college as our college is the place which enforces the feeling of equality and togetherness among everyone.

What are some plans that you are currently designing for your College?
"We are in talks to introduce new national level sports and games in curriculum"
We are planning to introduce the new games and sports activities in our college which our students can play on both National and International level. Because sports is the only thing I firmly believe brings people together in college. Henec adding new games to the curriculum would be ultimately beneficial for our students and for our college reputation as well.
How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute?
"By regularly interacting with everyone and ensuring my support in need"
For the purpose of ensuring a cordial relationship with my students and fellow faculties, I use a very simple and effective technique that is of regular, transparent and trustworthy communication. Interaction with them on a regular basis helps me to address their issues and get in a better way and I try my best to fix them on time. Also I ensure we all work as a team by being the biggest support system for each other when it comes to faculty members.
