What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Providing Students with Quality Education and World-Class Contents”

Being the head of this department, I am responsible for its overall functioning. Besides taking care of the day-to-day operations, I lead from the front when it comes to training the trainers. I ensure that my faculty members are equipped with all the skills needed to guide the students. Our goal is to make this department the best journalism training center in north India.

How will you ensure a student's smooth shift from online to the offline platform?

“Providing Students with Elaborate Plans to Compensate the Loss of Learning during Pandemic”

All journalism courses are practical-oriented. This pandemic has certainly impacted the learning process. However, the training of writing news, articles, features, captions, etc is being conducted online. And the training related to videography, photography, program and sound editing, etc would be conducted once the students return to the campus. Our students are eagerly waiting for that day. We have prepared an elaborate plan to compensate for the loss of learning due to the lockdown.

How do you make the subjects industry-oriented?

“Providing students with Lab visits to gain practical experience in editing and recording”

We, at JNU, have one-of-the-best labs to train students in processes like recording and editing programs. Besides, we regularly invite experts from the industry to conduct sessions on the campus. The result is for all to see. Our students secure the best internships and placements in the state.

What sets your college apart from other colleges?

“World-class Facilities and best lab equipment sets our college apart from other colleges”

As said above, our labs have the best equipment. Our faculty members are highly qualified, and some have come from the industry. We update our curriculum every year. What more does a student need? Here at JNU, one gets the best education.

“We Organise Scriptwriting, Sound editing and online Non-Tech sessions at regular intervals”

Besides degree programs, we also have short-term need-based certificate and diploma courses in TV production, script-writing, sound editing, photography, etc. We have our FM Radio. They are all aimed at making students ready to meet real-world challenges.

What are your thoughts about the hybrid model of education?

“Hybrid Mode of Education ensures non-stop work without any Hindrance”

In these pandemic-hit times, a hybrid mode of education has emerged as a necessity. But it needs to be taken as a positive development. We have trained our faculty members in conducting online classes effectively. And the results are also satisfactory.

What are the benefits and career options after pursuing this course?

“Journalism provides students with a wide range of opportunities”

A journalism student can explore a wide range of career options. To name a few, he/she can be a reporter, writer, editor, photographer, illustrator, designer, anchor, researcher, social media manager, program coordinator, web-content developer, etc. So, there is no dearth of opportunities for a media student.
