Dr. Pritam Pal is the Group Director of Regional College of Management, Bhubaneswar. With a Ph.D. awarded for his research and thesis on “Legal Policy Adoption in the Global Cloud Computing Environment '' and “Dynamic pricing algorithm for load balanced cloud resources”. He has 2 decades+ of experience in System Structure development and Research, Technology (AI, ML and Robotics) Research, Entrepreneurship, Infrastructure, Consulting and building successful global IT retail network market strategies. He is also the Founder and Director of SOURCE Initio Knowledge Services Limited, a 100 seat KPO unit based out of Delhi and Mumbai actively working on Financial Analytics, Bespoke research, business analytics, Back Office Processing and Health Care (RPO), SWASH Convergence Technologies (Owner of the global brand KEN Cloud) a consulting and IT R&D software research and development unit with core specialization in Product re-engineering and development.

What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

“It gives us several integrated opportunities to grow and build a smarter sustainable tomorrow” 

I have been into consultancy, process engineering and R&D right across my whole career. When you are into Research & Development, you get to interact with intellects and subject matter experts from different domains of expertise. Being a consultant and into technology solutions, I had the privilege of interacting with stakeholders. This connection has been flourishing for 22 years now.


What is your philosophy of leadership?

“To possess an agile team-based operation and goal-oriented leadership pattern”

Good Leadership originates its core from transparency in management. In any other educational establishment, there is a fundamental hierarchy in authority. At RCM Group of Institution, we always look at core job oriented skills. It's more of ice breaker leadership, where we want to break down responsibilities assignment in the organization which is driven by result oriented goals through capability and skill indexing. In this way, the resources with the right skills get aligned to specific goals. Today with the education system changing, the global vertical of focus has to work as an enterprise and not an institute.


Why is there a need for educational reform in the Indian education system?

Our education system needs to reform to accommodate the new tomorrow”

I believe that the Indian Education system is very well prepared. It creates a system of incubating intelligence during the nascent stage of development of a student across the primary base itself. Beyond that, the fundamentals are so enriched in the students mind that you can be a specialist in any chosen vertical that you want. But the impact of today’s requirement has sprung the need for multispecialty resources in every field. The only gap is the reform in the pedagogy of education as in how we are indexing the knowledge. The only lacking stage in our system is, it takes a long time for the reform to happen. By the time the directive reform ‘A’ comes into play, the pace in which the world is changing that ‘A’ itself becomes obsolete.

Legacy of 40 years of research oriented education that provisions imparting of a lot of knowledge capital and wisdom”

With a legacy of 40 years, we are extremely matured in the education process and education system. It also comes with an extremely powerful alumni network. The better your network, the better your opportunities and exposure to possible ones. Beyond that, we have a much skimmed infrastructure. It is built keeping education and education delivery in mind. Apart from that our library is again the greatest pillar that RCM has with more than 50K volumes of books, articles, journals etc. that incubates a long history of development of the industry.

What are some of the biggest challenges for higher education?

“Bringing in swift agile change based on the global requirement in teaching pedagogy”

When old meets the new, it automatically has its own amount of friction, which is the most inevitable part of human nature. The acceptance of change is very important. When you look at higher education as a nutshell, change normally comes gradually across time. But the education system and the statutory environment doesn’t allow easy progression. Hence, these are some small hurdles that we do face in the upgradation education ecosystem based on fast multi-skilling of students for being the apt talent required for a global knowledge resource hungry market.


How can you describe the academic life at RCM Group of Institutions?

RCM is a life parallel in itself and incubates a ecosystem where students can explore their talents and possibilities to the fullest”

Management education should be a tool to elevate your career rather than killing your talent and being a manager. As so said historically “All books and no play makes Jack a dull boy” is the concept we believe in. We are not just about what's in the book. Several field visits, different clubs like Finance, HR, Sports, music, photography clubs to name a few which creates a dynamic and a democratic environment where students can find their voice, explore their life possibilities and discover their talent potential. . We say to our students that your talents should highlight your career instead of the man-made predefined man-made directions.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the aspiring students?

“Focus on building the better YOU and create motivation internally to build the attitude of gathering knowledge”

To the youth of tomorrow, I would like to give a small piece of advice. Don’t run behind a brand, position or an example of matching up with something or someone. Your whole mindset should be, what you can be, not what you want to be. While being what you want to be, becomes much predefined and a thinner tunnel to focus upon. Try to live your dream, equip yourself with the ammunition of knowledge and wisdom in being that.
