6th April 2018, Mumbai: ICFAI Business School hosted its 1st International HR Conference on “HR in Search of an Identity - Changing Business Models; Inroads Made by Technology” at its campus at Hiranandani Knowledge Park, Powai. The conference was sponsored by Indian Oil Corporation (Conference Partners), Kitab Khana, British Council, Balaji Enterprises and Planet Powai (media partners) and supported by AMDISA.

Renowned HR luminary Dr. T.V.Rao, Chairman, T.V. Rao Learning Systems, Ahmedabad in his Keynote address said: “HR functions can act as a catalyst in nurturing and developing the potential and performance of the Human Resources of an organization”. He also emphasized upon the 3 Cs of HR viz. Competence, Culture and Commitment and their significance in bringing out the best in the human assets of the organization. 

Prof. Bhushan, Senior Advisor and Campus Head of IBS Mumbai in his welcome address mentioned the need for organizing the HR conference to bring together the HR practitioners and Academicians on a common platform to deliberate on the responsibility of HR in playing a strategic role in the business processes. He extolled the virtues of HR managers in tackling the perceptual traps coming in the way of organizational communication and functioning and fostering harmony and trust between members of their organization.

Research Papers were presented in four tracks:

  • Pragati (HR & Technology)
  • Rujhan (Future Trends in HR)
  • RanNiti (HR Subsystems and Strategy)
  • Urja (Human Capital Management)

The four tracks were chaired by the respective track chairs namely Dr. Preety Rawat, Ms. Divya Ramakrishnan, Dr. Minu Madlani, Mr. Amresh Nakhawa, Mr. Uday Ghag, Mr. Sanjiv Sharma, Prof. B.N. Lad and Dr. Jagadish Ayannar. They deliberated on their topics ranging from the use of gamification in modern recruitment practices, the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing the impact of HR functions, significance of employee wellness programs and its effects on millennials to changing scenario of Industrial relations climate in India.

Dr. Adil Malia, Chief Executive, The Firm, in his valedictory address as a Chief Guest spoke about the need to keep pace with change that is taking place at a breakneck speed ”Winners are not the victims of change but are the cause of change” is how he described the innate human foresight in predicting the unpredictable.
