Dr. S P V Subbarao is the HOD of the Department of ECE at Sreenidhi Institute of Science & Technology (SNIST), Hyderabad. He has more than 18+ years of academic teaching experience. He did his B.Tech from RGMCET, M.Tech in Communication & Signal Processing from GPRE. His Ph.D. dissertation was Development of MAC Protocol with Adaptive Power Control and Call Admission Control for Wireless Multimedia Networks. His Ph.D. dissertation was "Development of MAC Protocol with Adaptive Power Control and Call Admission Control for Wireless Multimedia Networks". He published various impactful papers in prestigious international journals. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Wireless Communications from JNTU-Hyderabad in 2014.

How will you ensure outstanding teaching and learning practice at Sreenidhi Institute of Science & Technology?

“Organize FDPs for faculties, research groups, internships, and innovations in teaching”

We teach with a new understanding or leading to empower through knowledge, skills, attitude and behavior. Our campus conducts FDPs and pedagogy training for faculties. One week workshops on Effective Teaching Methodology are given to teachers. Faculty of the department is divided into different research groups sections and each research group is responsible for making necessary arrangements for teaching in theory, labs, lab development, etc. We conduct industrial visits, guest lectures and student workshops or technical events. It is mandatory for students to publish a paper as a research outcome of their project work. They get an internship program, ICT supported learning, video lectures of SNIST faculty and NPTEL videos. We involve the industry in the design of the curriculum and for guiding the students. 

What strategies do you use to help learners in your department?

“Conducting remedial classes, calling expert lectures and solved previous question papers are available to students”

We help learners with remedial classes and expert lectures sessions. Our teaching methodology emphasizes goal setting showing students how to achieve success in life. We encouraged them with reading and to solve previous question papers. Faculty mentoring and motivating students to wisely use TV, Mobile, and internet surfing.

What is your vision for Sreenidhi Institute of Science & Technology?

“To provide research projects, certified courses and help students grow”

Our vision is to teach the learning process, curriculum, research projects, internships, lab projects, group projects, seminars, and employment enhancement programs for pupils. They get course training, remedial classes, bridge courses, Placements, certified courses, FDPs, industrial training, alumni interactions, and industry visits. 

How do you respond to a parent who contacts you to express concern about the teaching of some teacher on campus?

“Listen, investigate and resolve the issue quickly on the campus itself”

Firstly, we listen and investigate the issue. We inform the necessary people. Later, seek to resolve the issue and try to improve with suggestions of management.

What strategies do you use to ensure students' growth in subjects?

“Revision of last class, course plan, video lectures, and tutorials are organized for students”

Our campus schedules a course plan before starting the course. Revision of last subjects and topics to be covered in the class are discussed at the beginning of a class. We discuss teaching concepts and applications of the topics. Students get PPTs, OHP slides, animations, and video lectures. Faculties make sure that verifying all the students are taking class notes. We provide tutorial sheets, previous exam and GATE questions are solved in the class. Students are encouraged to ask questions and allow them to participate in the classroom instruction. They are encouraged to solve problems and present a topic in the class. We can improve problem solving and communication skills of students through assignments and project based learning.

What are your views on centralizing resources on Sreenidhi Institute of Science & Technology?

“Provide software, common PPTs, question banks, and video lectures on the campus for the pupils”

We keep all software, common PPTs and question banks, video lectures and student project reports on our server. Our teachers use the same resources for effective teaching. They provide homework and assignments to all the students who will receive similar instructions. The internal question paper will be common for all the students. 

How do you tend to establish a relationship with the students on the campus?

“Encouraging various student clubs, class review committees, and accept suggestions at any time”

Class review committees consist of top, middle and bottom achievers of each class. They give feedback about the teaching effectiveness, progress of class work, laboratory work, facilities such as library, sports games, canteen etc. We maintain a close working relationship between students and college management. Our campus follows a student feedback system on a regular basis. We take two feedbacks at the beginning or middle of the semester, and make necessary corrective steps. Our campus establishes a number of student chapters such as IEEE, ISTE, CSI, IETE, and other professional organizations. It ensures students' participation in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Moreover, we encourage various student clubs and organize a number of activities throughout the year. Faculties always listen to students' suggestions and resolve any issues. 

How do you look at the growth of students through placement opportunities available at Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology? 

“Offer campus recruitments as per industry standards for pupils”

Our campus gives NPTEL certified Courses, Bridge courses and CISCO Networking Academy for students. We offer more elective subjects and students get an opportunity to explore emerging technologies. They get Campus Recruitment Training during summer vacation. The electives from III year onwards are being offered as a positive step towards rationalized learner autonomy. We extend an opportunity to the student to pursue a career as a young entrepreneur. Our campus gives group projects, Technical paper writing, and Industry Oriented Mini Projects for pupils. Teachers offer counseling individually or in small groups. The Employment Enhancement Program is organized to improve language, soft skills, attitude, refining aptitude, Quantitative Analysis, logical reasoning, basic computer skills and technical skills of pupils. 

Any suggestions do you like to give for current youth and aspiring students?

“Be active and update skills for your better future”

 It is necessary to face any issues from the students' side. They should maintain leadership skills, work quality and power. Each candidate should participate in all activities to raise their skills.
