Being the Head of the CS Department, what are your responsibilities towards the students?

"Organizing technical events and guiding students for career are my responsibilities"

As a Department Head, my responsibility is to introduce research based and innovative learning programs in the department for the benefit of students and faculties. Organizing workshops, seminars, symposia, industrial visits, excursions by inviting guest speakers to interact with us and guide our young minds also comes under the scope of my work. And guiding students about the vast available career options in the corporate sector is also one of my responsibilities.

How do you establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

"Regular and honest communication is the most important tool I use for this"

I regularly interact with my students, try to know their story from their angle, play games with them, instill best skills in them using my knowledge and experience, and never discriminate between students on any basis for ensuring a cordial relationship with all of them. And when it comes to fellow faculties, I try to avoid juicy gossips, stand by their side whenever they need my help and support as I believe maintaining a positive working environment and a feeling of understanding is very important for a good relationship. We have also formed a Birthday Committee to celebrate each one's birthday.

How do you bring in a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects?

"We regularly assign projects to students and motivate them to learn new tools and techniques"

For the purpose of enforcing a practical approach towards subjects, we usually assign projects to students in groups so that we can not only hands-on learning experience but can also inculcate social skills, knowledge sharing attitude, feeling of compassion and team spirit in them. These projects also make students independent and boost their confidence. We also encourage them to learn new tools and techniques relevant to their respective courses.

How do you strategize and update the curriculum to make it befitting for the students?

"By analyzing the market demands and skills students need to know"

We draft and upgrade the curriculum of our college after doing rigorous research on industrial requirements and developments and doing deep analysis of latest job trends and skills which are in demand for students who are pursuing our courses. Apart from this, we regularly evaluate and reevaluate our end goals while finalizing things and we make best use of advanced technologies in every course or subject our faculties deliver to students. a track of employee skills that are sought after the course.

In addition to this, we also organize workshop sessions, guest lectures, mock interviews, personality development sessions, mock interviews, group discussion in collaboration with industry experts for our final year students so that they can confidently face actual interviews. Last but not the least, regular Guidance sessions are organized by us to educate students on how to prepare a smart resume and cover letter before appearing for an actual interview.

How do you prepare your students to deal with the outside competitive world?

"By educating them about the collaborative way of working and encouraging them to learn new skills"

We teach our students how to collaboratively do any work by taking everyone together and why teamwork is an important skill to learn. Also, we encourage them to evaluate and test whatever they learn in classrooms to find out solutions for real world issues. Because this way they will become more confident and competent individuals. Lastly, we teach them how to finish any work with patience and perseverance and help others in need.

Which extracurricular activities are organized by your college to enhance the skills of students?

"Sports events, dance and music competitions along with social events are organized by us"

As our college firmly believes that co-curricular activities are a perfect supplement along with theoretical knowledge to enhance students skills and provide them a suitable platform to showcase their skills. Therefore we have established sports clubs, music clubs, dance clubs, different kinds of societies and volunteering committees who regularly organize a wide variety of events and competitions for students in order to help them meet new amazing people and maintain a healthy balance between studies and social life.

What challenges are you facing to uplift the education quality of your department?

"Lack of discipline in students and teachers bound to do multiple work are some real challenges for us"

There are multiple challenges which we are facing at different levels but the most prominent ones are lack of discipline in students followed by changing educational trends as per today's industry expectations and developments. Also, our teachers have multiple responsibilities which they need to adhere to, so that creates another hurdle for us as it distributes their precious time which they can utilize to enhance students skills. Motivating and preparing students to do work outside the class is also a difficult task for us.

What approaches do you bring in apart from curriculum to teach the students?

"We regularly update students about their performance and progress on academic and non-academic levels"

For the purpose of educating students beyond books and defined curriculum, we use a feedback system in our college through which we keep updating our students about their academic progress and weak areas. Also, we encourage our students to rephrase lessons we deliver to them on a regular basis in front of the whole class to boost up their confidence and enhance their public speaking skills. Also, while we interact with them, be it for academics or non-academics, we clarify our end objectives and agenda of discussion to make it more fruitful and participative.

Any valuable advice which you would like to give to the students for a prosperous career ahead?

"Find out good internships and invest your skills on doing some amazing projects"

I would like to advise my students to look for good internship opportunities where they can utilize their skills and also build new ones. Also, participate in work-study programs as this will enable you to upgrade your skills and fulfill your own expenses. Keep learning new things, stay focused towards your goals, pursue courses which match your passion and maintain a proper balance between your personal and professional life.
