What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
“Complete guidance for the desired results”
Leadership aligns people to move with full potential towards the organization’s vision. As a leader, I envisage the growth opportunities for the organization as well as the associated risks. I lay down the broad path so that people have clarity on their roles and targets. I believe in management by objectives, support people in removing impediments and motivate them periodically.
How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your college?
“A well-thought plan for every step”
For any key program, first, brain-storming happens among the key stakeholders in understanding the current scenario and where we want to reach. Then, key responsibilities are assigned to motivated people to drive various initiatives. Finally, realistic milestones are set and tracked periodically.
In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your institute?
“Making their journey the best of its kind”
Students at CMRIT get better clarity on the fundamentals of various theoretical concepts. They have good hands-on experience in real projects on the latest technologies used by the industry. The students are also exposed to innovation and research activities and are mentored to develop a holistic personality by active involvement in multiple activities.
How does the curriculum of CMRIT ensure the best practice of the industry?
“Monitoring the industrial changes and aligning our goals with the same”
The curriculum is revised regularly after a few years with input from various stakeholders including industry. Most of the technologies that the industry is adopting are included in the curriculum. Over and above that, through our TYL (Tie-Your-LACES) program, any gaps in the curriculum and the industry expectations are filled.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the college and the students are?
“Present the members with a work environment in which they keep growing”
The key responsibility is to understand where the organization is and how to take it towards its vision by meeting the expectations of all its stakeholders. A conducive environment is created where the faculty feels that they are empowered to enhance their knowledge, and students are motivated to learn and enhance their skills. Challenges are provided to both students and staff to continuously excel. Constant positive energy is created to have a healthy working environment where staff and students can make use of their full potential and enjoy the journey.
When you first came to CMRIT, what was your vision for the institute? Has it evolved, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?
“Establish an image and being recognized for its excellence”
When I joined CMRIT three years ago, I found it has various inherent strengths especially its faculty, infrastructure, and management. With thoughtful planning, multiple initiatives, and alignment of resources, we have set out a path to make CMRIT one of the top few institutes across the country. All CMRIT staff members are working towards the vision. We are making good progress by nurturing our core strengths and would be able to achieve our vision within a decade’s time.
What would you like people to know about your institute they may not know?
“A collective approach towards the success of the students”
We have very good facilities for innovation and research with Maker-space, 15 centers of excellence, MSME incubation centers, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship cell. Along with academics, we train students on design thinking, patents, and entrepreneurship.
What do you see as CMRIT’s greatest strengths?
“Having well-learned individuals dedicated to the welfare of students”
CMRIT has a very conducive environment to learn through fun. Many student-centric activities are organized to help students to excel. A very strong faculty with strong industry, research, and academic experience is the backbone of CMRIT. We also have a great infrastructure and leadership team to drive various initiatives.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for CMRIT specifically?
“Encouraging the students to pursue skill acquisition along with the degree”
For higher education in general, the right skilling of youths should be the country’s top priority to be able to get the much-touted benefit of the demographic dividend. I would advocate for innovative pedagogies and structural changes that would ensure that only competent professionals graduate out of our higher education system. For CMRIT, we have penned down a good strategic plan. The challenge for us would be to execute the plan overcoming the impediments and work through the constraints as we pursue the journey towards our vision.
