What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“It is my responsibility that every student gets the desired results expected by their parents”

As the principal of a first-grade college, I am fully aware that the students and their parents think this is a center of high learning and culture. How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented in your institute?

“The terminology ‘practical approach’ is deceptive”

Higher education and research activities, undoubtedly, are for the development of the nation, exploring the limited freedom of an autonomous college, utmost care is given to make it industry oriented through the collaboration with industry, commerce and other firms.

What are the best practices offered by the college to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

“There are multiple sources of learning for students to acquire necessary skills”

The college sets an ambiance conducive to academic culture and quality research. Additional training to acquire necessary skills is offered through several student welfare/support programs like Career Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Club and Walk with a Scholar Programme. Additionally, we have insight and digital talking book library, Institute of Civil Services Examinations of the College, a unique venture to offer special coaching for competitive examinations have drawn the attention of many. Pain and Palliative clinic Dialysis Centre attached to the college's health center is a platform for training the students to be service-minded and sensitive to others' sufferings.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education about the students from your college?

“We prepare students for different walks of life and make them familiarize with various verticals”

An orientation program to familiarize them with the subject's scope is organized on the first day itself. Career and placement cell of the college helps the students explore all avenues for placement and higher education. Awareness programs about prospects and chances for higher education in the premier institute in other states/central universities and abroad are organized for the final year students. NET/JRF coaching for PG students is offered with the financial support of PTA. Data on higher education enrollment and placement are periodically revised. We are proud to concede that our enrolment ratio is higher than that of many other autonomous colleges in the country.


How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

“We help them analyse the challenges pertaining to the outer-world which helps them pull up their socks”

To bring the vital issue of cut throat competition to the fore, they are advised to utilize the facilities available to hone their potentials and acquire maximum soft skills. Workshops and group discussions are the means through which the skill is imparted. The support of the language lab is utilized to improve the skills for communication.

Do you have any activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to the real world challenges?

“Our students are proactive and indulge in various co-curricular activities”

Under the auspices of a wide variety of clubs and committees, the campus manages to keep up the spirit of competition as well as co-operation. Activities of the students union are chiefly for enhancement of their soft skills, and innate talents. NCC, NSS, Film club, Folklore club, Nature club, Readers’ forum, theatre club, Dance club, Radio club and Insight are some of the platforms for the promotion of co/extra-curricular activities.
