Being a Faculty of the Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“To impart applied knowledge of biochemistry and club activities for students”

As a Biochemistry professor, my role includes disseminating and imparting basic or applied knowledge of Biochemistry to students. It assists students with the learning process. Apart from teaching roles, I am involved in GSP mentorship and 360 degree nurture of students by involving them in different college club activities for the holistic development of students. 

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty in Dr. B Lal Institute?

“Facilitate strong relationships between professors and advisees”

Student-faculty relationships are the most crucial part within a collegiate community. Like any relationship, those between faculty members and students require nurturing. Advisors who know their students' talents and understand their faculty colleagues' gifts. It helps the student occupy a unique position where they can facilitate strong relationships between advisors and professors. When advisors help facilitate conversations between students and faculty members, they help the institution as a whole. When students feel connected to the campus community, they are retained and excel academically, creating a winning situation for everyone. We counsel the students in the right direction and listen to fellow faculty members to ensure proper team work. 

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?

“Motivate students to research based activities, projects and conferences”

Research commonly is associated with conducting empirical studies in a confirmatory or exploratory manner. To bring a Practical approach towards subjects, we make it industry-oriented. We start by motivating students to participate in different research based activities and projects. It will enhance their Practical oriented knowledge. We give examples, showing videos and discussing case study with the current data. Our campus is conducting industrial visits for the students. 

What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills? 

“Build professional skills, industrial expert sessions and experiential learning for pupils”

We are establishing a career development cell that guides the students to face the outer world. Our campus establishing industry connects for better opportunities. Practices like experiential learning, and method of power-point presentations help them organize their thinking process. We build professional skills, audio-visual aides , holding talks by experts in certain given fields and promoting wellbeing through different co curricular activities. Through constructive feedback, we open communication, inculcating a culture of critical thinking and holding an array of in-depth discussions. 

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?

“Update the curriculum as per industrial needs from the campus”

Our curriculum is updated every year with the latest pedagogy. We bring in best practices to give relevant exposure to students. Our curriculum is not static and the department reviews it every year to meet the current needs of the Industry.

What are your views upon the placements and higher education of the students from Dr. B Lal Institute?

“Provide relevant training and sessions to improve students skills”

Our institute has established CDC and HEC for overall grooming of students. It helps them to be future bio technocrats. Higher education in today’s environment is not only to give students degrees. But, even many more top studies courses are available that are specific for providing particular skills for particular degrees.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world? 

“Guide students to overcome their weaknesses and provide regular guidance”

We are recognising the strengths of students and guide them how to overcome their weaknesses. Our faculties help students to set their short term and long term goals. We are ready to provide regular guidance for the same. 

Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real-world challenges? 

“Provide sports, drama, music, debate, science, and more for pupils”

Our institute consists of a co curricular department and students have a platform to showcase their talents. Extracurricular Programs expose students to face real world challenges. All these are generally offered in a wide range of areas such as sports, drama, music, debate, science, etc suitable to all interests.

At the institute level, we provide quality education to our students. It would be suggested if biotechnology as a subject will be incorporated at school level only.
