BHU to Introduce Kashi Studies To Attract Foreign Students; Check Details Here


December 25, 2020: Banaras Hindu University will be introducing Kashi Studies under PG level to attract Foreign students from academic year 2021.

Banaras Hindu University - [BHU], Varanasi is planning to commence its admission process and finalise the seat capacity for academic year 2021-2022. The varsity is set to introduce a new course named "Kashi Studies" which will involve the mysteries and culture of one of the world's oldest cities in the world, “Varanasi” 

The course will be offered under the faculty of Social Sciences and attract the international students since the city is a major tourist location every year.

Kaushal Kishore Mishra, Dean of Faculty of Sciences at BHU said that a 2- year post graduate course curriculum will be developed from December 26. For final approval it will be presented to the academic council and executive council for further amendments.

The expert committee involves a lot of renowned artists and academicians from Kashi such as Malini Awasthi, Amitabh Bhattacharya, Padma Shri awardee Rajeshwar Acharya.

The varsity is yet to decide the eligibility criteria for this course and if any entrance test will be conducted for selecting process or not.

The seats are yet to be finalised for this course as well.The varsity is hoping that it will receive a positive response from the international students, since India is the hub of traditional culture and history. Many will be intrigued to resolve the mysteries of Kashi.

As per the state government data, Varanasi records 3,50,000 foreign tourists and 64,47,775 domestic tourists in the year 2019. The course also gives a scope for the tourism department to impart knowledge of the city.
