Aurangabad School Reopen: Two Teachers Tested COVID Positive; Check Details Here


In Maharashtra’s Aurangabad District, schools were reopened for students of classes 9 and 10 on January 4, 2021. A civic official informed that two teachers were tested COVID positive while the schools were reopened. 

The civic official stated that on the first day of reopening, the civic-run schools received good response from the students and also informed that the exact number of students who have attended the classes will be informed by the evening. 

The Aurangabad Municipal Corporation has made it mandatory for the teachers to test for coronavirus while permitting the reopening of schools for students of classes 9 and 10 which have been shut since March 2020 because of the COVID 19 outbreak. 

A total of 1,358 teachers and other staff of various schools were tested for COVID 19 from December 28, 2020, to January 3, 2021. So far, two teachers and one staff member have been tested positive for coronavirus, the civic officer stated.

The civic body’s education officer Ramnath Thore stated that they have received good response from students so far. “However, some students were sent back home as they didn’t have the consent of their parents. The students are enthusiastic about coming back to school and we will surely see a rise in the number in the coming days,” Ramnath informed. 

A senior teacher from a private school in Aurangabad, Ajay Nilangekar stated that a good number of students have attended the classes in the morning. Almost one-third strength of the students has attended the classes on the first day. 

The school premises will be sanitized before the commencement of schools every day and the classes will be held for four hours, Nilangekar said.

Aparna Jabras, mother of the student of Class 9 stated that her son is currently attending online classes and she will make a decision on sending her son to school after observing the situation. She preferred online classes for her son since going to school was not made compulsory.

Anagha Vasekar, mother of a student of class 9 stated that she would send her son to school since the education was already hampered because of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic. 

Till January 3, 2021, the total cases of COVID 19 in Aurangabad is 45,762 out of which 1,206 people have died because of the disease.
