Assam School Reopening 2021: Schools in the state have reopened for primary students from January 1, 2021, after 10 months of imposed lockdown since the COVID-19 breakout in the nation in March 2020.
Assam Schools are requested to follow the strict COVID-19 protocols since day one of reopening, while Teaching and Non Teaching staff have to undergo the COVID-19 test every 30 days.
Classroom teaching started on the first day of the new year for students of classes 1-5, though their attendance is not compulsory and will depend on parental consent.

Students of classes 1-3 will be attending classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Meanwhile, students studying in classes 4 and 5 will go to their institutes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Safety protocols have been put in place for the reopening of schools, which includes regular sanitization of classrooms, a compulsion of masks.
Additionally, district authorities will closely monitor the situation according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Education Department.

As per the officials, classes for the elementary level will be held between 9:45 am and 1:45 pm with a half-hour break from 12:15 pm. Students’ having age group below five years cannot attend schools.
The online classes will go on as usual for those who do not wish to attend physical classes. Although, there will be no cultural or other functions in schools until further government orders.
