The Assam government cancelled Assam board exams for both Classes 10th and 12th. The Evaluation criteria will be decided by the expert committees set up by the government.
The decision to cancel exams has been taken after review of the current COVID situation in Assam. According to the resources,two committees will decide the evaluation criteria which will be formed by the State Education Board.
In a previous statement, the state government said that both SEBA class 10 and AHSEC class 12 would be conducted. The state government had also suggested conducting exams only for a few subjects in the third week of July, as the COVID positive rate of Assam falls below 2 %.
The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the final decision on exams would be taken on 18 July. However, the students as well as parents have been insisting the state government to cancel Assam State Board exams 2021.
Earlier, the Central Board of Secondary Education and various State boards had also announced the cancellation of the 2021 Board exams due to the surge in COVID cases across the country; CBSE has also released the evaluation criteria for both classes 10 and 12.
After the release of Result Policy by CBSE it was suggested that the state board exams should be cancelled. A plea for the same was also filed for cancellation of all state board exams in the Supreme Court.
As per the most recent reports, both class 10 and 12 exams of Assam State Board have been cancelled by the state board. The board has also decided to form two committees which will take the decision on the evaluation criteria and the criteria is also expected to get released very soon.
