APBE Class 12 Exams 2021 Likely to be conducted by July End, State Informs SC: Read Full Story

The Andhra Pradesh government informed the Supreme Court on Wednesday that it has decided to hold Class 12 examinations in the final week of July because Covid-19 circumstances have recorded a drop in the state and any evaluation based mostly on inside examinations carried out by individual faculties may not yield correct outcomes.

The state's response came a day after the Supreme Court warned that the state board would be held accountable if there was even one fatality during the examination process. The Court will consider the affidavit filed by AP officials on APBE Class 12 Exams 2021 in a public interest litigation (PIL) ongoing filed by a gaggle of fogeys led by child rights activist Anubha Shrivastava Sahai.

The state, through its standing counsel Mahfooz A Nazki, stated in the affidavit, "The State of Andhra Pradesh has carefully examined the situation and is of the opinion that it will be able to successfully conduct the examination for Class 12 students." COVID-19 infection rates are rapidly declining... Experts also believe that the examination will be held.”

On May 20, 2021, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state was 22,610. After a month, this figure had dropped to 5,646, and by June 22, the state had recorded 4,169 incidents.

The examination is expected to be taken by 5.19 lakh college students in Class 12. The state intends to conduct the examination during the last week of July, and a timetable will most likely be issued soon. College students will most likely be notified 15 days early.

According to the PIL filed earlier than the Court, six of the 28 states had carried out the examination, while 18 had cancelled it, leaving out Assam, Tripura, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh, which had yet to decide in any way. Except for AP officials, the remaining three states announced their decision to cancel the Class 12 State Board examination on Wednesday. The examination would be held, according to AP officials. The Supreme Court told AP officials, "If there is even one fatality, we will hold the state accountable," and asked the state to file an affidavit outlining the reasons for holding the examination.

According to the state's affidavit, "there does not appear to be a reliable alternative to assess Class 12 of the State Board in light of the fact....the Board has no check or visibility on the Internal Examination conducted by various schools." As a result, any evaluation based on internal examination in the state of Andhra Pradesh may not produce accurate results.

Furthermore, the state informed the Supreme Court that an evaluation based mostly on Class 10 marks would not be possible because grades are awarded as an alternative of marks. Class 12 outcomes are important in determining a student's future because 25 percent of a student's Class 12 marks are accounted for admission into skilled programmes in the state. “Examination conduct is in the best interests of students,” the state stated.

The state also assured the Supreme Court that all precautionary measures had been put in place to protect students and lecturers. Along with Class 12, the Board of Intermediate Education intends to conduct examinations for approximately 5.12 lakh Class 11 college students. The examinations for Class 12 and 11 will most likely be held on different days, with most of the 18 college students crammed into a single room. College students in Class 12 should appear in 5 or 6 primary topics, the state stated by adhering to social distancing, masking, and sanitising norms.
