AICTE-TERRE Project: 12 Universities Take Pledge to Decarbonise Campuses; Check Details Here


AICTE-TERRE Project: On the anniversary of Paris Climate Agreement, AICTE and Technology, Education, Research and Rehabilitation for the Environment (TERRE) have come together along with Vice-Chancellor's of 12 affiliated universities to develop a roadmap to achieve carbon-neutrality in the campuses under the event titled-'Not Zero Net Zero'.

They have pledged to eliminate carbon footprints in the campuses by 2040-75. The event is organised by TERRE with its network of universities and colleges, i.e. Smart Campus Cloud Network (SCCN).The main aim of the event is decarbonisation of the economy. The Paris Climate Agreement was signed on December 12, 2015. The goal set in this agreement was to limit the global temperature rise to two degree celsius above the pre-industrial level.

The AICTE-TERRE event was inaugurated by Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of AICTE. Dr. Anil said, "Movement of Net Zero carbon emission will spread faster when the seeds are sown in University campuses."

To decarbonise the university campuses, following university took the pledge in the event:

Pontifical Catholica University based in Peru, also participated in the AICTE-TERRE online event to support the decarbonising initiative taken.
