AICTE, IOSR Sign MoU to Offer Engineering Courses in Odia Language from Academic Session 2022-23: Read Full Report Here


October 19, 2021: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has recently collaborated with Institute of Odia Studies and Research (IOSR) to offer engineering courses in Odia Language to all interested students. 

With the Memorandum of Understanding, MoU between AICTE and Institute of Odia Studies and Research (IOSR) India, both parties will take steps towards translating the technical books available for the engineering program in Odia language.

The MoU signing ceremony between the two parties was addressed by the Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan at the IIT Bhubaneswar campus extension on October 18, 2021. 

Referring to the initiative, AICTE said, “In order to facilitate the preparation and introduction of technical-books in Odia at Degree and Diploma Level from the academic session of 2022, AICTE and Institute of Odia Studies and Research (IOSR) executed Memorandum of Understanding on 18 Oct 2021 in the presence of Union Minister of Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan at IIT Kharagpur Extension, Bhubaneswar". 

Adding to the statement, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan informed, with this initiative of AICTE and IOSR, courses like Diploma and B.Tech will be available in Odia language. Specific guidelines and textbooks will be offered in Odia so that students can receive education in Engineering Courses in their mother tongue as per the standards of education. 

While talking about the collaboration, Anil D Shahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE said “Learning in your own mother tongue is inherently much simpler and more effective. AICTE has already granted permission to 20 institutes to impart technical programs in regional language”.

“In this context, the present MoU between AICTE & IOSR for translating books in Odia language shall be helpful to all students in the state of Orissa” he further added. 

Abasar Beuria, Chairman IOSR stated that with this step, the proliferation of Odia will receive huge support in the field of education, and among various technical institutes. The collaboration will endeavor to convert the technical books in Odia Language so that technical institutes of the state will have all the facilities to facilitate courses in their regional language, he added.
