Ahmedabad Colleges Reopened from January 18; Check Details Here


The Gujarat Government on Monday reopened the colleges in Ahmedabad. Colleges in Ahmedabad were kept closed since March 2020 because of the nationwide lockdown imposed to control the spread of COVID 19. 

According to the reports, the colleges will be initially reopened with at least 35% attendance. The COVID 19 vaccination is being distributed across the country and the percentage of attendance will be increased after a few weeks. 

The Gujarat Government has issued guidelines to be followed while reopening the colleges and universities. Most of the universities in Gujarat were already reopened last week following all the safety guidelines issued by the government.

The colleges were reopened amidst the semester examination and classes resumed on January 18, 2021, after the conclusion of the semester examinations. 

The Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat University, Himanshu Pandya stated that the semester examinations were concluded on January 16, 2021, and the colleges in Ahmedabad have been reopened on January 18, 2021. 

Mr Pandya also stated that the attendance is expected to be at least 35% on the first day of reopening and it is expected that the attendance will be increasing by the end of the month at Gujarat University. 

The director-general of Nirma University, Dr Anup K Singh stated that the Gujarat Government has decided to reopen the colleges after the colleges being closed due to the COVID 19 imposed lockdown.

As per the press release, initially, only the final year students of UG and PG courses were permitted to visit the college campus for offline education. The universities have taken all the required precautionary measures while reopening. 

Mr Singh stated that the offline classes for the students other then final years will be commenced in phases. The attendance for students visiting the college campus will not be made mandatory. For the outstation candidates, hostel accommodation facility will be provided along with the mess facility. 

SN Iyer, the general secretary of Gujarat Rajya College Acharya Mahamandal stated that the distribution of the COVID 19 vaccination is a relief to reopen the educational institutions fro the academic year 2021.
