16 IIT GandhiNagar Scholars awarded Prime Minister's Research Fellowship


New Delhi: Almost a total of 16 PhD students at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar have been awarded Prime Minister's Research Fellowships (PMRF) for the May 2022 cycle. 

These 16 PhD students of IITGN are engaged in a variety of interdisciplinary research and development areas.

Commending on students' achievement, IITGN Director IIT Gandhinagar Director tweeted that he feels elated to share that 16 PhD scholars from IITGN have been selected for the coveted Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (#PMRF) in the May 2022 cycle. He also thanked the faculty mentors without whom the students wouldn't have accomplished this great feat. 

Abhishek Sarkar, Ankur Vinay Singh, Anshul Awasthi, Aprna Rathi, Barat Suresh, Dipesh Singh Chuphal, Gaurav Rai, Hema Naveena, Himanshu Beniwal, Indrani Zamindar, Niyati Shah, Poonam Rani, Rajnandan Borthakur, Saikat Kumar Misra, Shivani Sharma and Shrutimoy Das are the 16 PhD scholars from IITGN who were selected for the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship. 

About PMRF Scheme 

The PMRF Scheme was created to raise the standard of research across the nation's higher education institutions. The scheme aims to entice the best research talent, thereby realising the mission of growth via innovation.

The PMRF Scheme was revealed in the budget for 2018–19. All IITs, all IISERs, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, and some of the best central universities and National Institutes of Technology (NITs) that grant degrees in science and/or technology are among the institutions that can offer PMRF. 

The candidates are chosen using a strict selection procedure, and from time to time a national convention evaluates their performance.
