Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences, Belagavi was established in 2005. It is an autonomous institution of government of Karnataka. The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).It offers M.B.B.S, Doctorate of Medicine, Paramedical and Nursing courses and that is approved by Medical Council of India (MCI).

The college has a well-furnished infrastructure and separate accommodations for girls and boys with all modern facilities. The Institute objective is to provide the teaching and training of Medical undergraduates and postgraduates in the science of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation and research in human ailments, with stress on preventive aspects of such diseases in the community.
