How is the CUSAT ranking, cutoff, and placement for a B.Tech 4 year?

NIRF 2021 ranked CUSAT 65th in the overall category. The university has two engineering colleges, i.e. School of Engineering, Thrikkakara campus, and Kuttanadu Alappuzha campus. Naturally, the required cutoff varies for B.Tech, year to year based on different parameters. If you are targeting CS/IT, you will need to have a rank under 1000. CUSAT placements are good. If I score 150 marks in CUSAT CAT exam what will be my rank and can I get into any of the branch there?

CUSAT exams are of 750 marks also the CUSAT CAT exam is hard to give. A score of 150 is considered an average score. Getting a score of 150 in CUSAT CAT exam will get you an approximate rank of around 6000 to 8000. Considering this, you will get a chance at the IT branch or some other core branch. It may also be possible that you may get into EEE or ECE although the chances of that happening are less but still not zero. These all choices will be for the second CUSAT campus during the real-time allotments. The trends in the spot allotments for the past few years show the same thing and students belonging to the general category benefit from it and get into some core branches. Having any kind of reservation will definitely bring you closer to being selected without a doubt. Although one important thing to be noted is that this trend can change at any given day or any given time because the majority of the students are keeping an eye out for CUSAT due to the KTU not working properly so this, in turn, will cause the admission process to hamper up. The spot rounds of allotments in CUSAT have proven to be of more help in this situation. So it is advised to visit all the spot allotments of CUSAT. In the previous year, students with 10,000-13,000 rank got admitted in the final spot allotment during the beginning of first-year classes.

In trial allotments I was waiting after 400 others for CSE CUSAT. What are my chances of getting admission there?

CUSAT exams are of 750 marks also the CUSAT CAT exam is hard to give. Here’s what I got to know from some of my friends studying at CUSAT. In the trial allotment rank, 400 means a lot considering this approx number you will get a chance for being selected in the IT branch or some other core branch. It may also be possible that you may get into EEE or ECE although the chances of that happening are average but not impossible. You can be sure that you won’t get a CS branch. These choices will be for the second CUSAT campus during the real-time allotments. CSE is the most sought out branch in CUSAT in both of the campuses, therefore a 400 waitlist opportunity will take a long time to come to you. Even if it does, the CSE seats would be filled for both campuses in the general category. With a reservation, you may still have luck finding yourself a chance to get the CSE seats in spite of the waiting list.

Which branch would I get in CUSAT with 4413 rank?

You can perhaps try out all the branches as well as the counseling rounds. In case your bad luck does not allow you to secure any other option anywhere else, try and give the spot rounds a shot. Do not underestimate them. Apart from that, try to go for the NRI quota and then grab your admission seat. But the NRI seat comes with a very heavy price to pay. It is very expensive. I believe you may get a seat in EC but predicting a branch, in particular, would be a little too much as each year, the rush with almost every branch is pretty intense.

How is the food at CUSAT?

Food will not be an issue at CUSAT. The food you will get at the mess of CUSAT is similar to that of any other engineering colleges in India. The food provided at the campus is great. But it is Kerala food. If you are from North India and habituated to the type of Noth-Indian food, you may have difficulty in adjusting. Since the food at the mess is prepared in coconut oil. If you are opting for a hostel you have to choose the mess facilities too. But it is not as bad as it sounds, and you can survive and adjust with time. You can get Noth-Indian Food by tiffin service too. You can also find many Bihari and Bengali cooks in the vicinity of the campus. There are also a few North-Indian messes near the college. In case you are staying in a rented flat or room, it would be better to hire a cook. It may take some time to adjust but you can definitely survive on the food available at CUSA. So, do not treat food as a deciding parameter for not choosing CUSAT.

What are the best student organizations or clubs to join at CUSAT? Why should students join them?

If you are one of those lucky ones who have gotten their admission in it and are excitedly looking forward to being a part of the campus and everything that it has to offer, you’ve come to the right place. There are a number of student clubs or associations that you might want to be a part of once you are onboard. Here’s a quick look at all the interesting and must attend clubs while you are at CUSAT: ACES: The most happening club out there is this one. ACES is run totally by students of the CS department and they have successfully ensured that the club is kept active and running at all times. They are also known to have several technical sessions regularly and all the IT or technical geeks here at the campus are delightfully keeping the club dynamically functional. ECSA: Short for, Electronics & Communication Students Association, this club primarily focuses on the EC department and is also run by EC students. Quite a popular association and also a favorite of many. It’s recommended to be an active member of this club if the branch EC interests you. MERAKI 7: This is another tech stuff where lots of stirring and nerd activities and events take place. A motivational and stirring place to be on campus for all tech-lovers! Apart from the clubs mentioned above, there’s InnovaDen that has everybody’s hearts. It is basically a co-working space for like-minded students who are interested in technical studies and might wish to pursue them further. There are other IT associations that have been recently started at the campus. You can look forward to joining them as well.

The worth of a college does not depend on which state you belong to. Its up to you to make your time at the college worthwhile. No matter which college or university you are in, they all have almost the same structure of syllabus and you have to study by yourself. If you do not have many options for college, you can choose an institute with a decent rank and low course fee. Let’s take a look at some of the parameters to study in CUSAT. Pros: CUSAT is not that costly if compared to other colleges. Since the institute is in Cochin, you can learn a different language. CUSAT offers several other departments like Foreign Language, Hindi, Economics, Legal Studies, social science, and Management. These departments offer short courses. If you want you can learn new skills from such courses and participate in departmental events. The living cost in Kerala is lower than in many states of India. There is also less distraction as compared to cities like Delhi and Bangalore. There is an Incubation center that promotes Entrepreneurs. You can earn while studying. There are many start-ups, also you can give tuitions. You won’t have to ask for money from your parents. Many of my friends did the same. You can go on trips and participate in games in your spare time. Cons: Because of the different culture and language, sometimes you may feel alienated from others. According to student reviews, sometimes the professors can be biased. The placement of the college is average. If you neglect studies, you have to go through rough times dealing with arrears and drops. You won’t be able to go home easily on vacations as it is too expensive. It is not a student-friendly college. So ultimately, it all rolls down to how you use the opportunity. No matter which college you go in, if you want to learn new things and stay proactive, you can surely make the best of your days at the college. So, work hard and try to score well.

Q: What is the difference between spot admission and real time admission in CUSAT?

One of my friends is from CUSAT. I have gathered some facts about spot admission and real-time admission from him. So I will be sharing these which might help you answer your question. There will be a few rounds of counseling, and all seats will be filled according to rank, reservation, and other factors. Certain vacancies will arise as a result of certain candidates failing to pay fees/submit all required paperwork or canceling their admission to enroll elsewhere. These positions are filled through Spot admissions, in which all candidates in the rank list are invited to appear and select their preferred branch/campus if space is available. A few days before the date of Spot admission, the available positions are announced on the Internet. Real-time admission is a more dynamic approach in which vacated seats in spot admission are filled instantly from among those candidates who are physically present at the session and are ranked accordingly. Remember one thing that there is no advance notice for vacant seats, and it is not uncommon for candidates who have already been admitted to particular branches to choose other branches/campuses.

CUSAT is an autonomous university owned by the state government. The university ranks at 63 in the Overall and 37 in the NIRF 2023 University rankings. CUSAT Admission 2023

CUSAT Admissions 2023 are entirely based on the entrance exam scores. The university accepts admission to all of its UG and PG courses through the CUSAT Common Admission Test (CUSAT CAT) except for the MTech courses. The university conducts Departmental Admission Test (DAT) for the Part-time MTech courses. For the full-time MTech courses, the university accepts GATE exam scores. Only for the MTech Civil Engineering (Geothermal Engineering), MTech Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Engineering), the university accepts DAT scores in the absence of GATE scores.

The admission process is smooth. The eligibility for this course Admission to CUSAT is through the CUSAT-CAT examination. Since our batch(2020) admission was during Covid, The criteria were 10 and 12th percent. Most of the procedures were online and through portals.

The CAT exam is conducted by the university. Just write on the internet about CUSAT CAT registration you will get the link for registration. Generally its forms in February or March. If you are Keralite and general you need to pay only 50000. If you are Keralite and SC/ST you have to pay only around 500.

I choose this course because I like ke to learn about electronics although my interest was more in its sector I didn't select for that course. The faculty-student ratio is nearly 1:15. Overall teaching methods are good but not all teachers. The exam was conducted strictly on time.

A good campus to chase your dream & Cherish your memories

Firstly I apply for keam entrance exam, then according to your performance, you will get a particular rank. There will be different cut-offs for each course. In my admission time computer science has the highest cutoff due to the great demand for the course. There will be some relaxation in cutoff according to their reservation in caste such as OBC, OEC, SC, ST, etc.

I found a great interest in studying computers, software, web designing, etc. that's why I opt for this. A lot of faculties are there for different courses. The student ratio is comparatively lesser than in other colleges. So the campus crowd is very low. Faculty members are highly qualified in their courses. There are two series of the exam are conducted before the university exam. So that we can learn the syllabus thoroughly. And these exams are not so hard and not so easy.

CUSAT,The Heaven You Can Wish For

The CAT exam is conducted by the university and the rank determines the eligibility in various courses, Ship technology, and Computer Science Engineering are chosen by most of the high-ranked students. The official website of cusat will provide official notifications on exams. Most of the admission procedures are conducted in offline mode, In my opinion, it would be more comfortable if processed in online mode.

On the basis of my rank, it's the best course I could join. On faculty students ratio, the rate is in such an order where a teacher for 20 students. All faculties have at least one Ph.D. Exams are conducted in a regular manner and bit tough compared to other universities.

A good government college with premium values

We can get admission at the school of engineering CUSAT by pairing the entrance to cat every year conducted by the University. We can find the application fees and all the deadlines on cusat admission website. There are various categories of reservations that can be avoided for the students applying for society to get entrance examinations. Personally, I have opted for an OBC reservation which helps need to acquire admission to this college.

I took BTech Mechanical engineering at Kushal because of its high placement ratio offered here and due to good academic facilities last etc. There will be around 10 Faculties available for each class and they are very helpful in our academic performance too. The teaching method is mainly by lectures and using the help of smart classrooms and which enable the students to improve their practical approach towards their syllabus. There are two internals in every semester and end semester exams are conducted timely and the results are published accordingly. The SOE

Yeah, there is an entrance to my college. The application form and available on the college site itself. Admission. Cusat. The application fee is 1000. There is a reservation for sc/st and as well as obc. Sc/st reserved people have much-reduced fees.

The course curriculum is well-advanced. The syllabus is updated every 5 years. The reason why I chose this course is that I like it. Faculties are well educated. Most of the faculties are having doctorates. There is an internal exam twice for every sem and at last, there is a sem exam.

If you want a college with superb campus culture go for it.

Yes. We need clear the CUSAT CAT entrance examination and be on the rank list for admission to any course here. Every year the entrance exam will be conducted and the application process and further details can be accessed from the website of admission of cusat. I opted for the general ews category which will help you in ranking the list quota of ews category. There are various reservation categories too. They will not consider the 12th standard marks for admission which can be both advantageous and disadvantageous for students at the same time.

Initially, after the entrance exam was can opt for Cucek campus of cusat or Soe campus of cusat. I opted for civil engineering at soe because I wanted to explore university life as soe is present at the headquarters of cusat itself. Apart from fire and safety, mechanical, marine engineering, and ship technology departments, all other branches have a good boy-to-girl ratio. Coming to teaching faculties there will be at least 7 faculties teaching different subjects with staff coordinators for each class. Almost all the teachers an academically excellent and have Ph.D. in their field. It's not about spoon-feeding, you can squeeze whatever you need to learn from the resource of the teachers. Also, they are very supportive of extracurricular activities too. The examinations are conducted timely in every semester and the syllabus is a little harder compared to other universities. But you can pass every exam if you work well on your academic side.

The admission process was easy as all the necessary details were available on the college site. The entrance exam I took was KMAT (Kerala Management Admission Test). The application form will be available on the official site.

I chose this course because of the placement opportunities that it offers. The faculty that is currently present is well-qualified, and the faculty-student ratio is also great. The exams were fairly easy to pass.

In 2009 ,CUSAT had a common admission test for admission purposes. Basic eligibility graduation with minimum 55% marks . School of Management studies, CUSAT is one of the oldest B schools in the country, with more than 50 years of academic excellence and legacy.

Since SMS, CUSAT is a public sector university, they can afford to hire top notch faculty and they do that .I am one among the many beneficiaries of the same. Presenty 24 permanent faculty members are there at SMS, CUSAT. Approximately 130 students leave the institute in flying colors very year. Excellent faculty-student ratio.
